Our Mission
To build trusted foundations for sharing data and intelligence without surrendering ownership, privacy, or control.

Our Vision
A future where individuals and businesses engage with AI on their own terms, using data they own and understand.
Why Piprate exists
To make data sharing trustworthy in a world that increasingly depends on it
Data powers modern business, digital services, and now AI. Yet the way data is exchanged has barely evolved: copied between systems, stripped of context, difficult to audit, and hard to control once shared.
Piprate was founded to challenge that model.
We believe data should remain owned, contextual, and accountable - while still being usable. Our work focuses on building the foundations that allow intelligence to flow between people, organisations, and systems without forcing centralisation or loss of control.

Our origins
Built in the hardest environments first
Piprate was founded in Dublin in 2017, originally focused on solving fundamental data-sharing problems in the insurance and reinsurance industry - one of the most complex, regulated, and data-intensive sectors in the world.
Insurance relies on trust in data provenance, versioning, and accuracy. Yet data was (and often still is) exchanged through spreadsheets, emails, and file shares - creating duplication, cost, cyber risk, and compliance challenges.
Piprate introduced a new model: identity-centric data exchange, where each dataset has a clear owner, a verifiable history, and explicit rules governing how it can be shared and reused.
This work led Piprate to become an early member of the Digital Twin Consortium, contributing to emerging standards around trusted digital representations of real-world risks.

Infrastructure for private data and shared intelligence
Today, Piprate builds core data infrastructure used across enterprise and emerging personal data use cases.
Our products and services focus on three capabilities:
- Secure data custody – ensuring data stays under the control of its owner
- Trusted exchange – enabling selective, auditable sharing between parties
- AI-ready context – preserving provenance, consent, and meaning so data remains usable over time
Together, these systems enable new kinds of applications: compliant data collaboration, privacy-preserving analytics, and shared intelligence without shared databases.

How our approach is different
Trust is built into the architecture
Piprate does not rely on “trust us” promises.
Our systems are designed so that:
- data ownership is explicit and enforceable
- access is granular and revocable
- every exchange leaves an auditable trail
- even Piprate cannot see customer data
This architecture-first approach makes Piprate suitable for regulated industries today - and resilient enough for emerging AI-driven use cases tomorrow.
From infrastructure to intelligence
Preparing for the next phase of AI
As AI systems become more powerful, the biggest challenge is no longer computation - it is access to high-quality, real-world data that can be used responsibly.
Piprate’s ongoing research and design work explores how private data can safely inform intelligent systems without being copied, scraped, or absorbed into opaque models.
This work is shaping Persona, a future personal intelligence layer that will help individuals interact with AI using their own data - on their own terms.
Persona is not yet a product. It is the natural extension of Piprate’s long-standing focus on consent, provenance, and control.

Our mindset
Long-term by design
Piprate is built by people with deep experience in insurance, data infrastructure, and distributed systems. We prioritise:
- durability over hype
- architecture over quick wins
- trust over extraction
We are building for a future where data relationships matter as much as data itself - and where intelligence can scale without eroding human and organisational autonomy.
